I stumbled upon a new addition to the Syrian blogosphere: The Syrian Domari is a satirical blog that carries the name of the famous Syrian
satirical weekly that was closed down by the government a few years ago. The people who run this blog say they have nothing to do with the ill-fated newspaper. They introduce themselves as a "bunch of guys who are fed up with corruption, wrongdoing and overlooking." They have some really funny stuff.
Other Syrian blogs I came across recently: The Syrian Brit is
by a
Syria-born physician in Lancashire, UK. Across Syria &
Inside Homs is by a group of Syrians in the US and UAE: Amr, Haidar and
Sandrella. Another Syrian expatriate in the US, Abu Kareem, has also launched the Levantine Dreamhouse a couple of days ago. Syria at Work is set up
by Brian Anthony of In the Axis. It's just ordinary people talking about the
jobs they do. Brian's students interviewed people they knew or met on the
street and compiled the interviews in this blog. Quite interesting.
